Last Chance is a lively and hospitable establishment in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. The bar was opened in 2022 by the Detroit Optimist Society, which owns properties such as Bad Luck Bar and Sugar House. Head Bartenders Jace Devantier and Nic Frontiero honed their skills at Sugar House. On that foundation, they developed the vibe and cocktails of Last Chance Saloon.
The primary focus of the bar was not the cocktails but the service. Nic and Jace wanted to create an environment that revolved around the guests. They focused on quick-to-execute cocktails so they would have more time to spend connecting with their patrons and creating a comfortable experience for everyone. As a result, many of their regulars are community members and service industry workers. The drinks are a cheeky nod to 1970s drinks that they recreated for the modern palate. Drinks like the Harvey Wallbanger and Fuzzy Navel have a home here inside a bar that looks like your Midwest dad’s basement bar with vintage beer and spirits signs. Last Chance is also known for their weekly Thursday event Bop or Swap. Guests bring in 1-2 records to be played, a vinyl is chosen at random, and the crowd has the choice to bop (keep playing) or swap that record for a new one. Dust off your records and enjoy the hospitality at this Detroit gem.
